The families of an addict play a critical role in their recovery. Our Family Program addresses critical issues that addicts and their families face during treatment and teach them the tools to help them during a life-time of recovery. Parents, siblings and/or spouses of our participants are required to attend Family Group sessions as part of visitation requirements, which include discussions centered on:
- Alcoholism and Addiction Education
- Family Dynamics and Addiction
- Boundaries and Codependency
- Relapse Prevention and the Family Role
- Private Therapy (upon request)
The Family Program provides sessions on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 – 3:00 for more than 300 clients and their families (partners, children and parents) per year. Sessions are led by certified drug and alcohol counselors who are specially trained in family dynamics and includes films, learning materials and group lunches.
Alcoholism and other addictions have devastating effects not just on the alcoholic or addict, but on their parents, spouses and, most especially, their children. These children often suffer from guilt, anxiety, embarrassment, inability to have close relationships, confusion, anger and depression. Addiction treatment changes the life of not just the woman, but her children and family. Our new family program will provide new resources to our clients and their families to help them achieve better outcomes as they work toward a life time of sobriety.
